At night around Pigalle

In 1961 Bil Ramsay, a German singer born in Cincinnati, USA, had a hit about that place. Part of the lyrics is this line: “Pigalle, the biggest mouse trap at the center of Paris” (translated from Germany by me). And I found, he was true.

Around Place Pigalle are many theatres, cabarets, cinemas and bars with adult entertainment. You also find shops with certain products (you know, what I mean).

All those etablissments didn’t attract me. But I like the colorful adervertisements at the buildings.

In this area you can also find the famous Moulin Rouge (red mill), a cabaret theatre. We were there at around 10:30 p.m. and you can’t imagine, how crowded the sidewalks were. Also, many people came out of the theatres along Boulevard de Clinchy.

Stay tuned for my next post.
