      I also never look at any other image before posting mine. Our pink magnolia is currently very similar to yours.

        1. your image is a purpur magnolia (probably a Magnolia liliiflora – variously known by many names, including Mulan magnolia, Purple magnolia, Red magnolia, Lily magnolia, Tulip magnolia, Jane magnolia and Woody-orchid)), mine is a star magnolia (magnolia stellate). It’s a big family (magnoliae – plural) of bushes and trees with wonderful big blossoms. Sometimes they are also called tulip trees, because of the shape of the blossoms and the thickness of the petals.
          Wie have both of them in our front garden. The pink in the back and the star magnolia in the front.
          Their blooming time is about to start right now. The leaves come much later, at (and after) the end of the blooming time.
