Monochrome Monday 9-45

Today, I have a more abstract image for you. Before reading any further, guess what you see in the image.

It’s a little dune of snow created by the wind. This was one of the pro sides of the regular strong snow storms we were suffering in Norway. The structure is approximately 20 cm long and 7-8 cm high. The low-standing afternoon sun trow that long shadow. It was located right next to the path we were walking from a panoramic viewpoint back to the parking ground.

It’s sometimes hard to find images fitting to a certain challenge. For these tasks, I’m using the help of Excire Foto. I told the software where my image library is located and it starts analyzing the images. It recognizes the main colors in the images as well as the contents (what is in the images) and tags them automatically. Later, I can use the user interface to search for images with certain tags. Currently, you can save a few bucks when ordering Excire Foto, because it’s on sale.

Lens-Artists Photo Challenge #75 – Nostalgic

It’s time for Lens-Artists photo challenge. This week’s challenge is “Nostalgic” by Tina Schell.

We’re living in a modern world. Time rushes by and instead of creating things that remain, our stuff is made for quick obsolescence. Electronic gear without an option to repair or even replace a weak battery. Instead of writing on paper, we’re writing on computers and save our work in changing media formats. A few decades ago, there were changing clothes 2 times a year: summer and winter. In some regions special clothes for spring and fall were necessary. Nowadays it feels like fashion changes every month. This results in enormous hills of waste and increased usage of resources. The companies try to make more and more money regardless of the resources and the needs of the people.

Because of this, more and more people try to get off of this rush. Small villages in the countryside and special houses offer treatments to slow your life down to bring you mentally back to the ground.

A kind of art?

Today I want to show you three photos, also taken last week during our monthly photographers roundtable, but they are very different from the photos I usually put here in my blog. Although they are so different, there is no post-processing in them. Only landscape, light, my camera and I.

I came up with a new idea and when looking on the camera screen I liked the result. When looking on them at home on the the big computer screen, I still liked them. What do you think? I’d like to read your comments in the box below.

Although I put them here in a slightly bigger size in the post, they are at the same size as all of my other photos. As always, just click on them to see them bigger 🙂

Take care!
