I’m sorry, Ben. I also have to pick a swan image for the challenge. These birds are simply a synonym for gracefulness, in my opinion.

The word ‘path’ can describe a real path you can walk on. But, in today’s context the path of life is meant. Your life, my life. Lock back to the stations of this year. Consider each station as a single footprint on your path from birth to death.

We finish this year in a few days. I’ll do a review post here as usual. but not today 🙂

These are letters inside a printshop. With these little parts newspapers and books were used to be printed. It was a hard job. Both, setting up the printing plate and sorting the single letters back in their box after usage.

What a bad luck, if the letters fall out of their boxes accidentally and have to resorted in the right boxed.

Water is the reason for the existence of the kind of life available on this planet. We all consist of about 70% of water. Water is essential for us to survive. Save our water resources! All of them! Ponts, rivers, lakes, the oceans and the air, too, to prevent water pollution by i.e. acid rain.

Literally, nostalgia means to love something old, old-fashioned or vintage. Jeff came up with some of his childhood memories. Others like i.e. vintage cars or old houses.

Here we haven an image, taken last year at our local fun fair on a photowalk with a model and an assistant. She came up with this idea. You can see, even a modern girl can enjoy an old-fashioned, Mary-Poppins-like carousel.

WPC: rare

dsc_6899_w
This week’s topic for the weekly photo challenge by “The Daily Post” is “rare”.

This tiny thing shaped like a cut-off fingernail is the biggest thing in the solar system: the sun itself.

I picked an image taken during a (partial) solar eclipse. I wrote a bit more about this event and the circumstances in a past post. You can also find some further images in that other post. Have a look!

Solar eclipses take part every few years, but they are visible only in a small area and this area changes from occurrence to occurrence. So, it’s a very rare event in every man’s live. And, many people will never seen one.

Update:

The answer is: it’s a kind of fan. The fan has a diameter of about 1,50m, that approximately 5 ft. It’s part of a huge turbine. Several layers of these turbine wheels are stacked one after another. In the image you can see the blades four of these wheels. In the foreground you can see another three of these wheels, but these are surrounds by a riveted metal bands.

I illuminated it with my speedlight, that was covered with a blue gel. The flash comes from the lower right side. Thus, each blade throws its shadow on the next blade, while the lights falls of to the background.

Thanks for taking part in the riddle and trying to guess the answer!

WPC: Half-Light

This week’s topic for the weekly photo challenge by “The Daily Post” is “Half-Light”610_1532-ec_w

Today’s post should be inspired by a poem, very or a song lyric.

My post and image are inspired by the poem “Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening” by Robert Frost. The simpleness of the scene Robert Frost describes in his poem, impresses me. I came in touch with the poem during the movie “Telephone” with Charles Bronson, many years ago. Recently, I googled for it again and it still impresses me.

“Miles to go before I sleep” is the anchor for my image. Although, it’s ‘to drive’ nowadays and a car instead of a horse pulled wagon or sleigh.

Although, this image is nearly one year old, but the weather conditions are nearly the same. It’s taken right in front of our kitchen window.

After a quite warm (around 7-10°C) and snow-less winter, we now have temperatures below 0°C and a little bit of snow every other day.

Snowdrops and crocuses are already blooming, and even many daffodils are out.
