I took this image on Saturday before last. It’s already early April, and just like the old farmer’s rule says, April does whatever she wants. Just like last April, we got snow in die mid of spring. But, fortunately, this time most of the fruit trees didn’t have their blossoms so early. Over the last weeks, the weather was very nice and sunny, but cold. But, the magnolias (tulip trees) were affected again. It started snowing Friday at noon and until nightfall, we had a quite solid snow cover on the ground. Saturday morning, I had approximately 15 cm of snow on my car. Although the snow was nearly completely gone by Saturday noon, nearly all petals of the magnolia blossoms were already on the ground. What a pity. The already short period of magnolia blooming time was cut even earlier.
The tree in my image is a white-pink blooming magnolia tree all covered by snow.

I took this image two weeks ago. The trees were still without any leaves. So, the sunlight was able to reach the ground and paint interesting patterns on the ground. You can enlarge it, when clicking on the image, as usual.

A closed railroad track not far away from my home. I’m mentioning the fact of being closed to avoid comments on how dangerous it is, standing on railroad tracks. And it is!!! Trains are in general so fast that you could be too slow to come to a save place again. This is especially true when you’re distracted i.e. because you’re photographing. Even when you’re too close to a track, the air draft of a passing train can endanger you!
I’m mentioning this, because a friend of my middle son last his younger sister 4 years ago, aged only 18. She went along a track of a suburban railway at night to cut short on her way home. The trains using that track only once an hour at night. When she was caught, she was only a few meters away from the save platform. At least here in Germany, trains drive usually at speed between 100 -130 kilometres per hour, and the ICE (InterCity Express) is usually operated even at 250 – 300 km/h when on the special high-speed tracks.

Today, I really encourage you to enlarge the image by clicking on it. This panorama is assembled from 22 single images. A panorama was necessary to capture the enormous size of this canyon. It’s not the first huge canyon (the 3rd image) I stood above but comparing the size of the canyon with the little water in the river at the ground it feels like standing on the moon.
Unfortunately, the river became nearly invisible after the sun climbed higher to enlight the ground of the canyon,

Some of you might already have seen this image on Instagram. It was so great to be able to have the cheetah coming so close to me and accepting me as a distant visitor (literally he was simply ignoring me, and that was perfectly fine)
In this image, I really, really love how the low standing sun models the body of this beautiful cat. Thus, the monochrome version is much nicer than the color version.

Lovelocks. Lots of lovelocks. Literally tons of lovelocks. This bridge crossing river Rhine in Cologne is famous for carrying thousands of these locks. A couple of years ago, structural engineers came over to re-do the structural calculations because of the enormous extra weight the bridge has to carry. Although each lock weighs only a couple of grams, it sums up to tons because of the huge amount of locks mounted on the fences on both sides of the bridge over the whole span. Afterward, many, many locks were removed to secure the bridge. But, lovers filled up the cleared spaces quite fast.
The bridge is more than 400m long and nearly 30m broad. The longest span is nearly 170m to give room for the transport ships to pass below. Besides pedestrians, the bridge is used by more than 1200 trains per day. It’s one of the most important railway junctions here in Germany. You can find more details on Wikipedia, if interested.
