Lens-Artists Photo Challenge #76 – on display

It’s time for Lens-Artists photo challenge. This week’s challenge is “on display” by Amy.

During the pre-Christmas time, all shop-owners want to sell as much as possible to make some profit. Thus, they decorate their goods in the windows of their shops as well as in the inside. Additionally, they try to attract possible customers with special (so-called rebates) discounts. But, they simply try to sell as much as possible.

When looking in my archive for a good image, I first scanned the folders containing images taken on different markets in France and Barcelona. But, I ended with this image taken in the Galeries LaFayette in Paris a few years ago. It’s taken in the basement in the perfumery department for ladies. These flacons contain a kind of fragrance. I liked the kind they were decorated.

Take care!

Comparing towers

Monochromia

I took this image on a rainy day during my second trip to Paris.

Here we have a modern tower representing the modern capital of France: office buildings made of concrete, glass and steel.

In the background you can see the Eiffel tower, built from 1887-1889 for the World Exhibition as a memorial landmark for the 100th anniversary of the French Revolution.

At that time, it was the highest building on earth. 324m of pure iron. Really a world wonder. Until, in 1930 the Chrysler Building in New York took over the label “highest building of the world”.

More of my images can be seen at my own blog.

Monochrome Madness 4-06

It’s time for a theme at Monochrom Madness Challenge again and it’t “repetition”.

Here we have a self-service bike rental station in Paris. Check out a bike in one station, ride to your destination and check it in at another rental station near your destination.

A few days ago, my daughter watched youtube music videos on the TV in our living room. When I came in, she was listening and watching a cover version of “Dernière Danse”  by the all-female e-string and e-piano band Amadeus. When hearing the music, I knew at once, I know that song, but with a voice. Next, she picked the original song by Indila.

One of the opening scenes in the original music video when the singer stands at a fence and looks over Paris from above the city. At once, I knew where that scene was filmed. It’s not far from the famous cathedral Sacré-Cœur on the Montmatre hill, where I took the image above. But, for this MMC I edited my image a little bit. Do you like it?

Weekly Photo Challenge: Extra-Extra

dsc_4860-s_wFor this weeks Photo Challenge at “The Daily Post” I picked again a photo taken in Paris, France. This weeks challenge is called “Extra-Extra” and asks us to show something unexpected in a photo. I was about to take a photo of the big, red heart in the fountain near by the  Centre Pompidou and its mirror in the little water. In February there is usually no water in a fountain to save the pipes from bursting because of the cold that makes water freezing.

While preparing for my photo couple started to kiss not being aware of me :-(. They ruined my photo!

But, keep in mind, being in the City of Love photographing a kissing couple with a big, red heart in the background, is much better then the original idea!

Take care!

Make love, no war! 🙂

Weekly Photo Challenge – On the move

This week’s assignment for the weekly photo challenge at The Daily Post is “On the move”. Cherry asked us, to focus on traveling. Otherwise, I’d have chosen another photo. But here is my contribution:

This photo is taken in Paris. For those of you knowing Paris well enough, try to guess, where I took it before scrolling to the answer.

It’s taken while going upwards to Sacre Coeur with the funicular railway.

You can find much more posts on Paris here in my blog. Check them out. Have fun.

Take care!
