Throwback Thursday: A toy?

Ok, some very rich people might consider this car as being a toy. An expensive toy! An expensive hobby. Buying old but beautiful cars, reconstruct them (or let others do that hard job while they spend their money on them), and put them into exhibitions, showrooms, or museums.

I can understand museums or even manufacturers doing this and making the restored cars accessible to the public. But, I can’t understand rich people doing it only for being proud of having them.

I can’t remember what kind of car this is. I photographed it in a showroom waiting for the next owner. Fortunately, that showroom is (was) accessible for everyone, and even taking photographs was allowed. I took this image with a fish-eye lens handholding the camera on my stretched arm to get this image. I only cleaned the edges and removed my legs in post-processing. I love, how the fish-eye lens was not only able to capture the whole car, but also distort the proportions (a bit 😲😂).

I took this image in January 2011 and didn’t find time to edit it until recently.

Lens-Artists Photo Challenge #82: capital cities

This week, we have a guest host for the weekly Lens-Artists photo challenge. It’s Viveka from Sweden. She asks for images from capital cities. Although I visited several capital cities (country capitals as well as state capitals), it’s very hard for me to find a suitable image. In my opinion, you should recognize the capital in that image for such a challenge but without simply showing an iconic building representing the city like the Eiffel Tower for Paris, The Brandenburger Tor for Berlin, colosseum for Rome, Big Ben for London or the skyscrapers for New York

The other main reason is, I don’t like these concrete deserts called cities. To be honest, I try to avoid cities.

Nevertheless, I dug into my archive and picked this image from Havanna for you.

Lens-Artists Photo Challenge #81: Find Something Red

It’s Lens-Artists photo challenge time again. Patti challenges us to find something red. She started her post with the phrase “Sometimes in the middle of winter” and my brain completed the sentence with “find something red” despite she wrote “, the world is reduced to stark shades of black and white”.

Red is one of the strongest colors we have. Red means blood, fire, and danger, but also love and warmth. Also, many fruits are red, when they are ripe and thus easier to find.

It would be easy to bring up a color-key image, where everything is converted to black and white while some red spots keep their color. I was also considering some fruits.

Currently, I working on images I took in northern Norway a couple of years ago during winter. So I’d find many images of these pretty red houses surrounded by snow. (Here we have the starting line, where my mind failed in reading it correctly 😀)
