Lens-Artists Photo Challange 170: “Street Art”

This week it’s Patti’s turn to challenge us for The Lens-Artists Photo Challenge. She asks for “Street Art”. After having sold a piece of art created by the British (?) artist Banksy for such an enormous amount in an auction.

I love street art. You can find more street art here on my blog by using the tag: “streetart” or “street art”

So, I only have a small selection here:

P.S. don’t forget to click on the images to enlarge them.

P.S.2: As usual, I’m recommending Excire Foto to find certain images on your hard disk. I know, how frustrating it can be when having an image for a blog post in your mind but not remembering exactly when and where you have taken it. As Excire Foto automatically indexes and tagging your images, it’s a huge help. You can search by keyword, a combination of keywords, and even the main colors to find certain images or even have a very different view on your archive, download a trial version to see, what Excire Foto can do for you!

Take care!

Street Art in Krefeld

Yesterday I was in Krefeld with some friends. We were visiting a street-art exhibition located in a WW2 air-raid shelter, the down-town gallery. About 20 artists painted some of the concrete walls on two floors, some with very political statements.

I love this kind of art. So, I included such artwork here in the past.  In my other blog, I included some more images. So, feel free, to have a look over there, too.

Take care!

Monochrome Madness 4-41

As the theme for this weeks Monochrome Madness is “Street Art” or “Grafitti”, I have a gem from Lissabon for you: this mural by Pixel Pancho.

You know, I love these kind of art and so you can find some on my hard disk. But, nearly all of these murals come to live by the colors, it’s hard to find something looking good in monochrome, too.

This is my contribution to Monochrome Madness organized by Leanne Cole. Look at here site on Wednesday (Australian time), to see many more monochrome images created by many other talented photographers from all over the world.

While Leanne changed her counting from the year and week scheme to a simple counter, I stay with the old numbering. So, don’t feel confused, when checking here site 🙂

I’d also encourage you to participate. The conditions are  published in each of her Monochrome Madness posts.

Take care!

Street Art in Duesseldorf

600_0815-c_wYesterday afternoon I attended a very interesting guided tour on local street art. I got aware of this offer a few days ago and decided to go. The tour was led by an artist with detailed know-how on the certain kinds of art, as well as the artists, people like  Pixelpancho, Mayo Brothers, Findag or Harald Naegeli, the sprayer from Zurich.

Street art is much more than simply polluting walls with ugly colors. Indeed, graffiti is a certain part of street art, but there is much more.  Some pieces are very big and are to oversee, other small and hidden. Some are made of spray colors, other similar to wallpapers, others of plastic foils and some woolen knitted art. So, interesting.

I attached a (quite big) gallery. Although I reduced the selection, it is still big. My aim was, to show different kinds of art as well as different artists and a few details from the facade paintings.

I knew some of the facade paintings before, and I know, there are some more. It’s kind of hard to find them again, after passing by without taking a photo. So, I took the opportunity to see some more and I wasn’t disappointed. I hope, to find some more on my own soon.

As usual, you can click on the photos to enlarge them and browse through easily.
